How to make a mug mockup

Open the Mug
Choose the Mug in the 3D catalogue. It's one of the free models, so you can start without Pro. The mug loads in 3D, and one finger turns it all the way around.

Add your design
Tap Logo and pick a logo, a quote or a photo; a plain backdrop behind it is cleared for you. Place it on the side of the mug, scale it to fit, and rotate it so it sits level.

A free mug mockup that's more than a template
Glossy ceramic, lit properly
The mug renders with real light, so its glossy white glaze picks up highlights the way ceramic does. Move the light until the shine falls beside your design rather than across it, and the shot looks like a studio photo.

What is a mug mockup?
A mug mockup is an image of your design on a mug, made before the mug is printed. You use it to sell, to show a client, or to check that the artwork fits. StokX builds it on a 3D ceramic mug, so you choose the angle and the lighting instead of editing a fixed photo.
Is the mug mockup free?
Yes. The app is free and the Mug is one of the free models in the 3D catalogue. Free photo exports carry a small watermark. StokX Pro removes it and exports in 4K: $5.99 a week, $6.99 a month or $39.99 a year on the US App Store. Ordering a printed mug is paid separately.
What sizes does the mug come in?
Three sizes, all in white glossy ceramic. The 11 oz mug is 3.8 in tall and 3.2 in wide (9.6 × 8.2 cm). The 15 oz is 4.7 in tall and 3.3 in wide (11.9 × 8.5 cm). The 20 oz is 4.3 in tall and 3.7 in wide (10.9 × 9.3 cm).
Is the printed mug dishwasher safe?
Yes, and microwave safe too. It's white glossy ceramic, and your design is printed on after you order, so each mug is made for the person who ordered it. Wash it and heat it like any other mug in the cupboard, and tell your buyers so in the listing.
What designs work best on a mug?
Short quotes, logos, simple illustrations and photos all work. Keep important details away from the handle and the rim, and check the design at a three-quarter view in the mockup, since that's the angle most mug photos are shot from.
Where can I make a mug mockup?
